Mary Ann Schildknecht (say: shilled-neck)  is a native Californian, born and raised in Los Angles.  She studied art at San Diego State University. 
 

 

 Mary Ann pursued careers as a designer in the fields of fashion, advertising and publishing.  In the late 70's she turned to watercolors and devoted herself to perfecting her techniques in her San Francisco North Beach studio.
 
Over the following years, Mary  Ann 
studied with many great watercolor artists including Zoltan Zabo, Frank Webb and Gerald Brommer.

In 1989 Mary Ann moved to the quaint waterfront town of Martinez, CA.
She then began her new love affair with the classic medium of oils.  

Mary Ann currently paints in the plein air
style which compliments her love of the great out doors.
Her paintings feature the ever changing light of the California landscape combined 
with her brilliant use of color
and outstanding composition. 
When inclement weather keeps the artist
inside, the artform known as the "still life"
remains anything but still. Her evocative paintings have given her a loyal following. 
Mary Ann's work has been
exhibited throughout California and Hawaii, 
and can be found in several private collections.

Mary Ann currently teaches art classes for children and adults. She loves
to teach and inspire people to find 
their own style. She is currently
enrolling new students and forming new classes for people of all levels.
